Dental Implants in Killara

If you have missing teeth but don’t fancy the thought of a conventional bridge or denture, Killara Dental offers dental implants as an alternative treatment option.

Seen as the gold standard of missing tooth replacement a dental implant permanently replaces a tooth root. It’s surgically inserted into the jawbone to provide fixed support for your gums and bone. This stable foundation is where artificial restorations such as crowns or dentures are then secured. The result is a fully functional, natural-looking implant that becomes an integral part of the mouth. Because of this, our East Killara dentists highly recommend dental implants as the closest you can get to a real tooth.

Are You A Candidate For Dental Implants?

At Killara Dental, we provide dental implants to replace a tooth with severe decay or damage or as a treatment for tooth loss. Whether you have a single missing tooth or a full arch of missing teeth, dental implants at our East Killara clinic offer excellent solutions.

Before getting started with dental implant surgery, our dentist at Killara will thoroughly examine your oral and general health to determine if tooth implants are best for you.

Process of Getting Dental Implants

Usually, three stages are involved in the treatment of dental implants:

At our East Killara clinic, we offer the latest advancements in dental implants to widen your options. We can do guided, non-guided, flap, or flapless implants. Your dentist will discuss these before the treatment.

The key advantage of flapless implant treatment is that the implant is placed into the bone without the need to cut the gum. Therefore no sutures are necessary and healing is much faster.

Once the anaesthetics or sedatives have taken effect, the implant is placed into the bone, either using conventional methods or computer-guided dentistry. The process of implant placement is relatively quick and even quicker using computer-guided flapless surgery. Moreover, patients’ won’t feel this part of the process at all.

It takes 3 to 6 months for the implant to successfully integrate with your bone after placement. So assuming your implant has fully fused with the bone tissue an abutment connector is fitted on top of the implant post. Sometimes this is done at the same time as implant placement, but typically a waiting period is required. The abutment is what links the implant to the artificial tooth.

And after 2 – 6 weeks, when the abutment has healed, our dental implants dentist in Killara will schedule the placement of your final restoration. This can be a dental crown or a denture depending on the number of missing teeth. At Killara Dental, we offer same-day CEREC dental crowns as a convenient treatment.

Frequently Asked Question

FAQ Killara Dental

Generally, our dentist at Killara does not recommend dental implant treatment for those who have problems with wound healing or patients with bone disorders. These may greatly affect the success of the implant treatment and pose risks to health. In that case, our dentist will explore other tooth replacement options for you.

The titanium implant itself is made to last a lifetime. However, the artificial tooth attachment will naturally wear down with daily use. Because of this, you’ll need to have them regularly checked to ensure they remain in good condition. With proper care and good oral hygiene, an artificial tooth can last around 10 – 15 years.
